DSC_0003On our way back from Zambia my family and I decided to turn our 90 minute layover into a 24 hour layover and it was the best decision!  It’s a modern, utopian city surrounded by miles and miles of desert with so many facets to explore.  The city skyline looks like something straight out of star wars, doesn’t it?

We took a dune buggy and ATV out for a spin to try out some dune bashing.  It was such a blast and ripping around the desert in these things isn’t only exhilarating, but it’s the best way to see the beautiful landscape of the desert (and I even caught a glimpse of one of the terrifying desert snakes —EKKK!)

The best way to rip around the desert dunes...

Riding a camel was a check-it-off-the-bucket-list moment.  It was such a cool experience, but I almost fell off when the camel stood up out of no where! That would have been embarrassing… and painful from that height.

DSC_0058The desert is far more beautiful than I would have imagined.  The waves of dunes flow into beautiful mountains that are met by breathtaking sunsets.

If any of you ever get the opportunity to have a layover in Dubai take full advantage of it!  In just one day we were able to do all of these amazing things and there are still so many different facets of the city to explore.  Kendall Jenner and Selena Gomez were also in Dubai this week… is Dubai trending?! I’m into it- wooo!

xo,

Christie
